Recreation Redefined ReThought...
what if it NEVER ends.. how do we reStart ..... how would we choose to live?
what personal freedoms would we fight for within the national global rules defined for us by our leaders and nature ?
I drove 30k miles per year for ten years, now I have no car. yet I am happier.... I live differently, and have more than enough grat things to do, without a car and the "hassle" that brings... ( winter tyres, parking, insurance, scratches, queueing for petrol )
Viktor Frankl, found happiness in a concentration camp... what if our stays at home became "camps where we were able to concentrate". slow down our lives, focus on ourselves and selfcare and our families, growing food, talking t neighbours... rather than wake to jarring alarms, rush the kids to school by car, rush to work rush to collect kids, fall asleep with supper not digested ......
Trailer Park, a place where people live, or a trailer parked on the street growing fruit and veg through the summer lovingly tended by the local neighbours suitably socially distanced.... every ten car spaces, since noone compalines seince they arent using their own cars currently... ( Optimising street spaces and optimising people rather than indoor spaces )
The Learning Street, what if every empty shop window become a window to learning, so kids do a treasure hunt of learning going from empty cafe to empty cafe learning at each ( socially distanced space ) with their parents, who learn ( as in pixar movies ) the adult lessons alongside.... but learning together rather than rooms apart
22m Americans laid off in March 2020... What if we redeployed them all today, at twice the "pay", in a "job" they loved... for 21 hours per week ?
kids off school. " what if they dont want to go back?" Should we force them to go back to something they "really really dislike" or should we rethink education to become somthing they yearn for, as Africans yearn fo it since they often do not have it "gifted" to them... How would the kids re-define their learning experience? would they struggle with calculus in German to pass their matura or choose to focus their energy on being able to read write and do arithmetic to a level sufficient to move to a new culture tomorrow and feel integrated because they can rent a flat, buy a beer and talk to their neighbours in a common local languuage ( GlobENglish = 2000 words )
What if 2.2m Americans buddied up online today with 220000 fresh AMS clients in groups for online conversation in English... ( or Spanish ) along with learning German ( or French, Arabic, Italian ) ( Chinese, Japanese, etc... What if all those Native speaking Americans partnered with non Native teachers of English in other countries.
In my one and only "economics paper" I upended Maslow,. I just had an aha to do same with learning English. What if instead of 1 teacher and 12 students, each student had 12 native teachers.... !!! How to make THAT a reality. it seems we suddenly have the people available, bored and willing....
People are the (my) worlds ( or IBM's ) most important asset. I asked my accounting professor why they dont appear on the balance sheet then. He said they have in the past, as slaves. People appear like leased cars on the cashflow, ( with some getout fees of course ) and therefore can be dumped in a downturn with potentially drastic consequences. However, for every door that closes and new one opens, so how to turn that "drastic" into perhaps the motst positive outcome ever seen?
- likely to have a strong or far-reaching effect; radical and extreme."a drastic reduction of staffing levels"
