Connecting newcomers in Wien to locals in Wien

There is an organisation, Start with  a Friend, which I believe mtches locals with newcomers

Vienna Hub has been actively "connecting people with passion" since 2005 . It is currently "Connecting Continents" with a focus on changemakers in Wien to changemakers in Africa.

English Speaking Parents in Austria is a facebook group that welcomes newcomers, and connects to others here with information, meetups and more

AWAT is a lovely space on Gumpendoferstrasse, theHappiestStreetinTown . It currently hosts some newcomers, and among others der Jugendrat are providing guidance.

AWAT is one of many locations around town that are receiving newcomers daily  It is perhaps an idea base for running a "connecting locals to newcomers based on this model here

Hi. I would like to talk about jugendrat hosting zoom meetings to link ukranian newcomers with locals en masse. Online first, but local meetings too in awat etc. Like we did with art, but books too, and eating with mjam delivery etc or cooking. I wish to scale to include all. Involving students, seniors, and other clients

"8³1"

I am selling my most recent mixed media piece entitled, "Now or Never." The idea for the piece was inspired by the day to day struggle humans encounter on a daily basis to make, or fail to make, the decisions that will alter lives permanently. All of my mixed media art includes actual money and this piece is no exception. I use money to bring attention to the systemic toxicity and the many problems caused by unabated capitalism and the impure money exchanges for goods and services. This has unfortunately become the norm in spaces where purity used to reign supreme, but is now nearly a thing of the past.

Medium:
•Mixed (including oil and acrylic on canvas)

Dimensions:
•Canvas (minus the mesh frame) 20" x 20" x 1.5"
•Canvas (with the mesh frame) 24" x 24" x 4"

Price:
•$831* (private message)

Artist portfolio history:
•Several custom pieces commissioned by private enthusiasts/collectors.
•Curations and installations in private residences.
•Several private sales of glasswork, photography, paintings, mixed media and murals.

What do I mean by a Micro School in Kakuma Camp?

( picture of tents in Kakuma, as far as the eye can see ....)

I see 1000 of these tents, as a wifi hotspot to serve 100 people, with a box of 10 kids books as a Micro Library, and a Micro School membership community of 100 lifelong learners.

( picture of 10 Ladybird  books )

I see ten kids together for an hour a day, sharing the ten books, in each of the 1000 tents. Repeating 10 hours per day. Fun books that inspire imagination and learning to read. I see an older person with them, perhaps 5 to 10 older persons, maybe surfing quietly, to learn or to earn, while the others read and play.

I see 10 tablets or laptops ( 2nd hand from the local computer repair shop ) in use while the kids are reading, and for another ten hours per day in use as a co-working space by a mastermind group of adults who are supporting a. each other, b. others in the Kakuma community, and c. perhaps projects around the world that could benefit from intelligent capable people with some time on their hands in between jobs.

Seeking 10 locations with 10 leaders, with first 10 students at each, by end March - join here on fb

The Colouring Book - prototype

The process

Connects interested parties in Europe, to interested parties in Africa , and runs 4-6 sessions of zoom or #ideastreaming online to :-

a. create profiles of players - slideshow like here

b. map out possible contents of 42  page, 80 sides of colouring and informational material ( 40 from Europe, 40 from Africa ) suggestions - house styles, foods, markets, school buildings, libraries, internet access, requirements of 2-6 year olds for education at home and in the system ...

c. create a pdf output to share, that is an example of The Colouring Book, and that also explains the process to a complete newcomer, ie the director of Amerling Gymnasium in Vienna or the head of Slumcode in Nairboi, of two groups co-creating a usable document for a specific age group on a specific theme, that links and bonds two gruops of 12 across continents

and also what happens is that as energies between stakeholders are shared, and people realise the strengths and limitations of others in the groups, moves are made to invest, in better internet connections and books for kids and adults in the camp for example.

The process is also specifically targeted to both a. raise the profile of great existing projects and b. to involve "on the bench" resource, that is currently benefiting from a "universal basic income", to enhance CVs  of StepUp graduates through more contacts, skills and experience making them more employable within Africa and Europe,a nd give them a warm feeling from being productive within the local and global community

Here is a themed version:- The Colouring Book - Permaculture
